A Beast of a Wine: The 2005 Two Hands Shiraz Ares
Deep, dark cherry red. Some light rims. Big and heavy in the glass; long-living tears. Intensive aromas of ripe blackberries, chocolate, some tar and leather. Associations of a walk through a dark forest in winter time. On the palate extremely fruity with some fresh mint-like elements in the very long finish. The high alcohol is perfectly integrated. Of course big flavour and fleshy, but with a wonderful lightness of being. Terrific!
We opened this bottle after a very stressful day and we paired it with a nice steak. This worked very well, but I believe a classical roast venison would be better. The wine is extremely young. Another 10 years? Absolutely no problem.
Remark: I opened the bottle 7:40pm. One hour later the bottle was emptied...
