Deep dark cherry red with some nice reflexes. Aromas of cherries paired with melted, dark chocolate. Perhaps some thyme notes and far, far in the background a touch of mint. On the palate the cherries are confirmed in a very "fleshy" way. A mouth full of wine with an incredibly long finish. Extremely balanced for its youth. Very, very yummy.
The wine is of course still at the beginning but already wonderful to drink. It will hold this quality minimum six years. Pair it with a deer goulash with cranberries.
I visited the Hart Family Winery end of November on a wonderful warm and sunny Black Friday afternoon. The scenic is wonderful; the people very friendly. In contradiction to other wineries located at the Rancho California Road, visitors are not tortured with load and totally improper music. We stayed with friends for nearly two hours and had a great tasting. In total I took six bottles with me back to Germany - two of this great Petite Sirah.
